Comfort-Gard® Plus

Maximize your comfort with Patio Enclosures, Inc. Comfort-Gard® Plus glass while reducing your lighting, heating and cooling expense.

Since glass is the main component of your sunroom, we have invested in the research and technology to provide our customers with superior glass. Our Comfort-Gard® Plus glass is the result providing the best possible thermal performance in our sunrooms, to keep you warm in winter and cool in summer. Additionally, our glass is formulated to protect fabric, furniture and floor coverings from fading.

How does Comfort-Gard® Plus work?

There are three key components to energy efficient glass. The details make all the difference in long term performance.

  • Our Patented Comfort-Gard® Plus Glass Utilizes a Formulated Low-E Coating

Our Comfort-Gard® Plus glass from PPG utilizes a clear, Low-E coating consisting of approximately 15 layers, including metal oxides and titanium dioxide. It's designed to eliminate the heat and brightness without affecting your view. Although the glass is not tinted in any way, it has incomparable shading abilities and reduces interior solar gain by reflecting infrared radiation energy back outside. The Comfort-Gard® Plus technology encourages visible light to be transmitted, resulting in a cheerful, bright room, while significantly reducing sun damage and fading from harmful UV radiation.

  • Insulated with Argon Gas

Insulated glass refers to glass that uses air between panes as a primary source of insulation. Although air itself is a good insulator, filling the space with low-conductivity Argon gas further reduces heat transfer improving the sunroom’s thermal efficiency. Colorless, odorless, non-flammable, non-reactive, Argon gas is 1.4 times denser than air and completely safe, non-toxic and noncombustible.

  • Built with SuperSpacer® Technology Between the Glass Panes

Unlike metallic spacers, the structural foam SuperSpacer increases the overall efficiency of the insulated glass by as much as 30%. SuperSpacer is 950 times less conductive than metal spacers. SuperSpacer delivers superior structural integrity and durability, enabling the insulated glass units to stand up to high wind loads*, temperature changes and UV exposure. The end result is the industry's best thermal performance with lower energy costs, less condensation, reduced chances for mold growth and a reduction in outside noise.

Comfort During Both Cool and Warm Months
Simply stated, Comfort-Gard® Plus glass is what makes your room more comfortable! This remarkable glass keeps out the oppressive heat and damaging UV rays during summer and can reduce cooling costs by as much as 25 percent! The same glass retains warmth during the winter months.

*Based on argon-filled space.

Comfortable, Abundant Light
Comfort-Gard® Plus glass utilizes a clear, Low-E soft coating. It is designed to eliminate heat and brightness without affecting the view, providing glare control in bright, sunny climates.

Fade Protection
Fade Protection Ultraviolet (UV) light is a primary contributor to the fading of furniture and carpeting. But recent research has determined a more complete measure of fading resistance called the Damage Weighted Transmittance. TDW measures visible light, solar heat gain, and total UV rays. Our Comfort-Gard® Plus glass, in addition to blocking UV rays 90% more effectively than ordinary glass, outshines the competition with a .43 TDW (the lower the number the better).

Edge-to-Edge Advantage®
Other sunroom companies build sunrooms with stock size doors and windows. To fit the room size you want, they fill the additional space with unsightly filler. At Patio Enclosures, Inc., we give you the most unobstructed view possible. That’s possible because we custom manufacture our sunrooms to your exact room dimensions, maximizing glass and minimizing framing to provide you the largest views. In fact, depending on the style room you select, our sunrooms are up to 98% glass! The result is a sunroom of wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling glass -- our Edge-to-Edge Advantage!

The Highest Standards
Our Comfort-Gard® Plus windows and doors meet ENERGY STAR standards. The ENERGY STAR label is earned by products that use less energy, prevent greenhouse gas emissions, and adhere to strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the EPA and the Department of Energy. Homeowners benefit from Comfort-Gard® Plus Energy Star products because they:

  • Deliver the comfort and protection of thermally efficient glass
  • Result in lower energy use (either in cooling or heating)
  • Save significant cost while protecting your home form sun damage.

In addition, Patio Enclosures Inc. was the only residential and commercial sunroom manufacturer with the HIGS certification. The Harmonized Insulating Glass Standard (HIGS). The HIGS testing included three parts: high humidity test, accelerated weathering test, and volatile fog test. The HIGS rating however has been replaced with the American Society of Testing Materials (ASTM) 2190 testing protocol. All of Patio Enclosures, Inc. insulated glass passes the highest levels of ASTM 2190 tests including seal life and gas retention. We maintain our ASTM 2190 certification through bi-annual quality control testing by the Insulating Glass Certification Council.

Warranty
Lifetime Warranty on Glass Breakage and Seal failure (other companies offer pro-rated warranties; our warranty is not prorated.)
All of Patio Enclosures In. tempered and insulated glass is protected by our warranty for as long as you own your home.

What’s the difference between Comfort-Gard® and Comfort-Gard® Plus?
When we combine Sungate® 500 hardcoat Low-E and Argon gas with one of our tint products (Solarbronze® or Azurlite®), our hybrid Comfort-Gard® glass is created. This is a cost efficient option for those sunrooms that are not equipped with heating and cooling systems.
Comfort-Gard® Plus is created when we combine Solarban® 70VT Low-E glass with Argon gas fill. This ultimate high performance glass has an outstanding U-value, and is the highest quality glass available without the room darkening effects of the competitors.

*SuperSpacer has passed Hurricane test protocol.
